Plans in for redevelopment of pub on brewery site

Plans have been lodged for the refurbishment and extension of a derelict pub on the former Tetley brewery site in Leeds.Developer Vastint, supported by Turley and Cartwright Pickard, has submitted an application to Leeds City Council for the site of the Crown Hotel, at the junction of Crown Point Road and Hunslet Road.The property was built as a pub and hotel in the 1860s and is locally listed. It is currently in a derelict condition.Planning permission is sought for the refurbishment of the building and a new four-storey extension. As part of the work, the existing single-storey extension will be demolished.The ground floor will comprise refurbished pub and restaurant space, together with new adjoining commercial workspace. About 20,000 sq ft of office space will be created on the uppers floors.The proposed development, to be known as ‘The Crown’, forms part of the wider redevelopment of the former Tetley brewery site by Vastint. Plans for a pair of new commercial building were submitted at the end of 2019.
