New lease of life for former wine bar

A former wine bar in Lancaster is to be transformed into a health and wellbeing centre.The building on Moor Lane was formally used as offices for Mitchells Brewery, with the ground floor area accommodating Mitchells Wine Bar.It has been left vacant for a prolonged period and fallen into a “state of disrepair”.Change Grow Live (CGL) – a social care and health charity – has been working with Lancaster City Council to provide an integrated alcohol and drug behaviour change service, which includes treatment, recovery and community resilience.As such, it submitted an application for a change of use for the wine bar to provide such an operation.The plans have now been approved, with the hub set to provide a range of clinical and therapeutic services including recovery support.
