Each eligible Club will be able to apply for a maximum of £5,000.This Emergency Relief fund is designed to complement other sources of funding provided by the UK Government or Welsh Government, such as funds targeted at small businesses. Other information: WHO WE’LL FUNDThe Emergency Relief Fund is available to not-for-profit sport clubs and organisations delivering community sport and physical activity, if it is experiencing short term financial hardship or the ceasing of operations due to the impact of coronavirus.These organisations include:Local not-for-profit sports clubs.Voluntary and community sector organisations that deliver or enable sport and/or physical activity, including organisations that are not solely or primarily sports organisations and have an important role to play in keeping people active, that may need support for other parts of their organisation to remain open.Small charitable trusts that do not qualify for financial help elsewhere.Regional bodies at risk of financial hardship.WHAT WE’LL FUNDThe fund has been developed to help community sport and physical activity organisations that are unable to meet their financial obligations. For example, for fixed costs, which are no longer supported with revenue as a result of coronavirus. The Emergency Relief Fund might cover expenditure on:Rent Utility costs Insurances Facility or equipment hire (where there is a fixed cost)Activities or costs that cannot be covered by government funding sourcesClubs affected by recent flooding might also have capital costs or cleaning costs that they cannot pay forWe would expect applicants to have exhausted other sources of funding, in particular the emergency sources of funding and support being provided by Welsh Government or UK Government.The fund cannot be used for retrospective costs incurred before the UK Government announcement of lockdown from 24th March.WHO THE EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND CANNOT SUPPORTThis fund is designed to help grassroots sport and physical activity providers. This means we’re not able to help the following organisations with this fund.Local authorities, including town and parish councils Schools, colleges and universities Commercial sport and physical activity providers, e.g. private gyms Leisure operators Individuals who are either employed or self-employed within the sport and physical activity sector. Any organisation or individuals who can access support through the government’s financial packages should do so in the first instance. We’ll review the availability of these packages on an ongoing basis. WHAT OUR FUNDING CAN’T BE USED FORFunding cannot be used for:Activities or costs which are already covered by other government fundingNew activities or eventsCapital works (these might be covered by our Development Grant). Clubs affected by recent flooding might also have capital costs or cleaning costs that they cannot pay forCosts beyond the end of June 2020.Please note that Sport Wales is working on wider packages of support for our partners. These will be announced in due course.KEY THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE APPLYINGWe expect that applicants will have exhausted all other government funding sources before applying to this fund. This fund should be your final option.Given the enormity of the current crisis, we’re likely to get more applications than we can fund so we’ll direct funds to where they’re most needed. The grant is aimed at those clubs and activities that are at immediate financial risk. If you are able to access sufficient financial reserves you will not be eligible for funding.Clubs that are cost neutral (have no incomings but no outgoings) are not eligible to access the fund..NUMBER OF APPLICATIONSOur expectation is that organisations will only apply once to this fund for the immediate period – through to 30 June 2020. This will be kept under review.We will support as many applications as possible. However, given the likely high requests to access the fund, money will need to be directed where it is required most.Note: The changing situation means that we are continuously reviewing all our funding and the support needed to protect the Welsh sport infrastructure for the future.WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I’VE APPLIED?Once you’ve submitted your application form, we’ll assess it against our fund criteria. We will also be liaising with colleagues within the sector, such as your national governing body, to confirm application details.We will aim to get back in touch with every applicant within five working days (depending on the number of enquiries and applications we receive) to confirm if you are eligible to access funding. Your application will then proceed to the assessment stage.We are aiming to make our first decisions on grants by Friday 17th April, however the volume of applications anticipated could mean that your individual application may processed after this date. Timings are subject to change depending on workload.
