Major Herne Bay housing scheme set for nod
Plans to build a mixed-use development in Herne Bay featuring 450 new homes looks set to be approved. The site bordered by Greenhill Road, Junction Road, Thanet Road and Thornden Wood Road spans about 57 acres. The application is seeking outline permission for 450 dwellings, community facilities, a new link road and pedestrian and cycle links.Detailed permission is sought for the change of use of agricultural land to provide outdoor sports playing fields, which would be used by Briary School. The application will go before Canterbury City Council’s planning committee later this week (18 June 2020).They added that the change to the landscape and loss of agricultural land “will be outweighed by the significant public benefits”.
