Mixed-use plans for former Arla Foods site move forward

A proposed development of more than 600 apartments on the former Arla Foods office building in Leeds has moved forward with the submission of a planning application.Avison Young has submitted plans to Leeds City Council for the redevelopment of a 5.1-acre brownfield site on the edge of Leeds city centre on behalf of its client Commercial Development Projects Ltd.Planning permission is sought for a mixed-use scheme comprising up to 631 apartments spread across six blocksCommercial units are planned on the ground floor, as well as a new public park and green spaces which maximise walking and cycling routes along the River Aire.The apartments would be a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, with a percentage set to be affordable housing to meet council requirements.The site on Kirkstall Road previously housed Arla Foods and Tiger Bus Company but has been vacant since 2016.Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher is the architect on the scheme with Curtins providing civils, engineering and transport advice.Pre-application proposals for the scheme were presented to Leeds City Council earlier this year.
