Plans to build on the progress made at NOMA – a huge 20-acre regeneration scheme which could support the creation of 15,000 jobs and provide more than £25m of annual GVA – are set to be backed. The estate is bounded by Corporation Street, Angel Street and Angel Meadows. The phased development – which is set to come forward over the next 15-20 years – will provide 2.5 million sq ft of both new-build and renovated office space, situated alongside housing and public realm, as well as retail and leisure opportunities. To date, a host of schemes have come forward including 563,000 sq ft of office space, a new square at Sadler’s Yard, the Angel Gardens project, and the creation of about 5,300 jobs.An updated strategic regeneration framework (SRF) for NOMA has now been drawn up and is designed to build on the progress achieved to date. While the principles remain unaltered, it instead details the next phases of the masterplan. The core objectives are to create jobs, placemaking, communities and sustainability. The Executive, which will meet virtually on 3 July, has been advised to note the progress made and approval the update SRF as a basis for consultation with stakeholders. A further report is expected to then be presented.
