Gun Quarter flats bid gets council backing

A development which will contain more than 200 apartments on a site in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter has been approved.CZCW Ltd, which is based in the city, is behind the plans for land fronting Hanley Street, Lower Loveday Steet and Summer Lane.The applicant purchased the site in 2017 and submitted proposals to demolish the existing buildings and the construction of a four to eight-storey development with 203 flats.The build-to-rent scheme will also include ground floor commercial units as well as 29 car parking spaces, 11 for motorcycles and 204 for cycles.After being approved by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee at a virtual meeting on Thursday 16 July the proposals, which have been designed by Claridge Architects, will create 17 full-time jobs.
