Approval for Pemberton Colliery residential scheme
Plans for almost 270 homes to be built on the site of the former Pemberton Colliery have been approved.Peel L&P’s outline application for the brownfield site at Smithy Brook Road is set to provide a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes to help the borough to meet its housing demand.Of the 268 properties, 13 per cent are earmarked for affordable housing.The development will also help the council to secure funding for the M58 link road, with Peel L&P committing to backing the section that runs through the site.Work will be taken forward by Peel L&P’s homebuilder Northstone, with a more detailed reserved matters application to follow later in the year.
