Plans are being drawn up for almost 700 new apartments in the Digbeth area of Birmingham.Homes England is behind the proposals for New Bond Street which could see up to 690 flats created across five buildings, with the tallest rising to 15 storeys.Up to 35 per cent would be classed as affordable while up to 20,645 sq ft of commercial space at ground floor level would also be provided. The five-acre site currently comprises offices and a self-storage facility. The plans come after Homes England agreed to buy the site from Birmingham City Council in March 2019 which formed part of a wider deal for the Commonwealth Games’ Athletes Village. The proposals have been included in an Environmental Impact Assessment scoping report.
