Plans for an extension of a Leeds park-and-ride to provide hundreds of additional spaces have been given the green light.WSP, on behalf of Leeds City Council, submitted an application in October 2019 for the expansion of the Temple Green Park-and-Ride.The council opened the Temple Green Park-and-Ride in 2017 and more space is now required, with the facility used by an average of 960 cars per weekday in September 2019.Planning permission is sought for the creation of an additional 400 spaces, including six electric vehicle charging points. The expansion follows the purchase of an adjacent 2.52-acre site at Gateway 45 from Aire Valley Land. Funding was also approved during 2019 by the council’s Executive. The development will be funded though the The Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme (LPTIP).Planning consent has now been granted by the council, subject to conditions, under delegated powers.A planning officer’s report accompanying the decision said the development would provide “required transport infrastructure on an allocated site to support the development of the Aire Valley and provide sustainable travel choices”.
