Coastal village housing scheme verges on green light

A new housing scheme proposed for the coastal village of Heysham in Lancashire looks set to receive the green light.Holden Homes is seeking outline approval for the development of up to 75 residential units on land to the west of Middleton Road.The scheme includes a mixture of mews, semi-detached and detached houses varying between two and two and a half storeys, with 15 per cent of them allocated as affordable housing.The application represents a resubmission of a scheme that was approved in 2014, which has now lapsed.As part of the proposals, Holden Homes will contribute £56,869 for four primary school places to be agreed hen the unit numbers and number of bedrooms are known. The company will also contribute £80,000 for off-site open space provision.The approximately 5.5-acre application site comprises an area of generally flat grassland and has been vacant for a number of years.The scheme is set to be reviewed by the Lancaster City Council planning committee on 17 August 2020.
