Plans in for hundreds of homes as part of Leeds extension

Plans have been lodged for the construction of hundreds of new homes as part of a major extension of Leeds.Johnson Mowat, on behalf of Taylor Wimpey (Yorkshire) and Persimmon Homes (West Yorkshire), has submitted an application to Leeds City Council for a 100-acre site between York Road and Leeds Road.The site represents the Middle Quadrant of the East Leeds Extension, which is set to comprise about 5,000 new homes in total, alongside the new East Leeds Orbital Road (ELOR).Outline planning permission is sought for about 875 new homes, as well as vehicle access, a central spine road and associated infrastructure works.The proposed development would include a range of new house types, affordable housing and green space.Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon are expected to submit a further application for a development of about 925 homes on the Southern Quadrant in the coming months. This scheme is also set to include a new primary school, convenience store and health provision.It has been estimated that the development of both quadrants would support about 530 full-time direct on-site jobs during construction, with a further 800 supply chain jobs.
