Work completed on £4.9m affordable housing scheme
Work has completed on a £4.9m affordable housing development in South Tyneside.Contractor Tolent has handed over the keys to the Whitburn Towers development to members of the South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust team, who have begun showing residents around their new homes.The project has created 36 apartments for affordable rent; 32 within a three-storey block and four apartments within a separate two-storey annex block at the back of the site.Working in partnership with South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust, South Tyneside Homes and Homes England, it is the latest scheme for South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust to provide independent living to the over 55s within the area, replacing a previous sheltered accommodation facility that was demolished in 2017.
