New Leeds park-and-ride plans lodged

Plans have been lodged for a new park-and-ride facility in north Leeds that would provide space for 500 vehicles and support the city’s economic development.WSP, on behalf of Leeds City Council, has submitted an application for a new scheme off Harrogate Road A61 North in Alwoodley.Planning permission is sought for a new park-and-ride facility 500 car parking spaces, including six motorcycle bays, 25 accessible bays and 25 electric vehicle spaces.The plans also include a bus terminus building, cycle parking, storage for mobility vehicles and sustainable design features such as solar pv panels.Car parking would be arranged in a circular formation around an inner landscaped section.The council’s executive agreed in July 2019 to progress plans for the new facility at Alwoodley and up to 400 additional car spaces at Temple Green.Together these sites, along with those at Elland Road and Stourton, are set to create an additional 2,000 park and ride spaces across the city.The schemes are part of Connecting Leeds, a long-term transport strategy for Leeds that aims to improve all aspects of transport and travel in the city and connecting to the wider Leeds City Region.
