Green light for landmark Aire Park development
Detailed proposals for the landmark Aire Park development, which is designed to encourage the creation of new jobs and boost investment, have secured the green light.Developer Vastint UK put forward the plans as part of its major redevelopment for the former Tetley Brewery site.The park will feature a series of connected and diverse open spaces, allowing it to be used year-round, day and evening and for a range of purposes.The first stages of scheme includes The Tetley Triangle, a public event space suitable for concerts, markets and outdoor cinema, animated by surrounding shops, cafés, homes and offices. Planning is expected in the coming weeks for new office space to complete the Tetley Triangle.Additionally, the development involves the provision of Theatre Gardens, an ornamental and sensory garden connecting the park to the River Aire, and Central Park, a green park space between The Tetley and Crown Point Road that includes a play and/or exercise areas, a water feature or sculpture, grassed areas and parkland.The site also involves the construction of an amphitheatre, along with additional green space.The news follows the announcement that £8.6m from the government’s Getting Building Fund will be committed to deliver additional park space and infrastructure around the development.
