Approval for Tranmere Rovers’ expansion plans despite concerns

Tranmere Rovers’ plans to improve their training facility with the installation of a 3G pitch have been backed despite concerns being raised about increased traffic.The club use the Solar Campus alongside the Liverpool FC Women’s team.It is also used by a number of local sports teams and schools, as well as the wider community.Proposed is a partial excavation and installation of the pitch, as well as floodlighting and a footpath between the ground and the campus buildings.A report drawn up for Wirral Council’s planning committee noted that five letters of objection had been made, while a 36-signature petition has also been received.At the meeting, it was moved that the application be deferred to allow for further discussions to take place around concerns on increased traffic and parking issues.
