Major proposals for the redevelopment of the former Kellogg’s site in Stretford – which include hundreds of homes, a hotel, commercial space and more – look set to advance. If approval is granted, thousands of jobs could be supported. The proposals were brought forward earlier this year by Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council.Operating as Trafford Bruntwood LLP, the joint venture scheme is part of the latter’s wider Civic Quarter Masterplan, which covers a 120-acre site that includes the town hall and Lancashire Cricket Club.Outline permission is sought for up to 750 residential homes, a school, office space, a hotel, a bar and an energy centre. If backed, the construction phase is anticipated to support 2,261 direct and indirect jobs with a GVA of £18.2m per year. The households are estimated to spend about £11.2m per year in the area, which equates to 87 jobs, while the proposed commercial accommodation is expected to facilitate 1,248 new direct and indirect roles with a GVA of about £50m a year.Approval has bee recommended, with the meeting taking place on 24 September.
