Muntons invests in Stowmarket carbon reduction
Malt supplier Muntons, which was founded almost a century ago, has struck a deal to install a new energy centre and its base in Stowmarket.The facility will be located in the north west of the site and will comprise a biomass boiler, a gas-powered combined heat and power generator and two back-up gas-powered boilers.The move is expected to generate almost all of the site’s future steam, heat and electricity while reducing Muntons’ carbon footprint.He added the investment is “another major milestone” for Muntons in Stowmarket.Work on the new facility will begin shortly and is expected to begin generating heat and electricity for Muntons from early spring next year.
