Plans lodged for destination quayside scheme
Plans have been submitted for a destination mixed-use development, incorporating a hotel and new homes, at a quayside location in Poole.MHA Burleigh Poole is seeking permission to redevelop the site currently occupied by a Thistle Hotel and adjacent land on Poole’s historic Quay.Planning documents drawn up by Holloway Studio detail the development of the brownfield site to create a scheme called Fisherman’s Dock, which will include a new 118-bedroom hotel with rooftop bar and restaurant, three independent commercial units, and 228 new homes arranged across four blocks, with associated parking for the hotel and residences. The site offers views looking out across the harbour, Brownsea Island and the Channel beyond, while the development has been drawn up following public consultation and with involvement from the local authority and other stakeholders. The proposed scheme is said to reflect the history of Poole and represent a sustainable development which will bring economic, social and environmental benefits to the local area, while enhancing the famous waterfront and providing a place to live, work, visit and stay, alongside amenities for locals and visitors.Other professional firms working on the application include Place Design, Montagu Evans, Newgate Communications, Waterman Group, TFT Consultants, Stace, Bidwells, RWDI, CGL Group and BB7.
