Energy park plans set for green light

Plans for an energy park with the potential to provide power for thousands of homes are recommended for approval later this week (4 November 2020).ENGIE Renewables, supported by SLR Consulting, submitted an application to North East Lincolnshire Council at the end of 2019 for land at Mauxhall Farm, off Immingham Road in Stallingborough.Planning permission is sought for the construction of a solar farm and battery storage facility with a energy output of 49.9 megawatts (MW).The proposed solar array would have the capacity to produce up to 29.9MW and would take up the bulk of the 117-acre site.The capacity of the battery storage facility would be 20MW.It has been estimated that the solar farm would generate sufficient electricity to power the equivalent of 9,000 homes.The application will be considered by the council’s Planning Committee on 4 November and is recommended for approval, subject to conditions, in a report prepared for the virtual meeting.The land to the east of the application site forms the proposed Stallingborough Interchange Business Park, which was granted outline planning permission for strategic employment use in October 2018. The business park is identified as an enterprise zone site within the Humber Enterprise Zone.
