Water Row regeneration moves forward with sale of land to Govan Housing Association

New affordable homes are to be developed at Water Row in Govan after Glasgow City Council approved the off-market disposal of land to Govan Housing Association. The first phase of regeneration at the site will deliver 92 affordable homes and over 9,000 square feet of ground floor commercial accommodation.The disposal will see the next step in the development of this site, which has been identified as a priority site for regeneration by the council, given its waterside location and the forthcoming connections to Partick and the wider West End through the Govan – Partick Bridge.A masterplan for Water Row – commissioned by project partners Glasgow City Council, City Property and Govan Housing Association and carried out by Collective Architecture – informed the current plans to deliver affordable housing on the east side of the site, with these homes and the commercial space to be built in a first phase, with a second phase following on the west of the site.The terms and conditions of the disposal of the land have been provisionally agreed with Govan Housing Association, and it is hoped that the transaction will be settled by the end of 2020. The purchase price is £360,000.The site is one of 23 in the city where Glasgow City Council will dispose of land to local housing associations, with the aim of meeting the council’s strategic housing, social and economic objectives, as well as supporting inward investment.
