Approval for thousands of homes and jobs

Plans to construct up to 2,400 homes and create 2,000 jobs on the edge of Coventry have been voted through.Coventry City Council’s planning committee met virtually on Thursday 26 November to vote on the proposals for the 350-acre Eastern Green site to the south of the A45.The plans also include extra care provision, 37 acres of employment land, a local centre with about 1,0763 sq ft of retail space and a district centre with about 107,639 sq ft of retail space as well as a two-form entry primary school.Transport hub will also be constructed on its eastern side which will include space for a potential very light rail stop.Hallam Land Management and the Trustees of the Eastern Green Land Pool Trust are behind the plans.The original plan sought permission for up to 2,625 homes, 25 acres of employment land as well as the district centre, local centre and primary school.
