City of Bradford MDC is looking for a framework of providers to ensure that all the apprenticeship and workforce planning requirements are met. The Apprenticeship Levy started in May 2017 and the Council will be looking to work with external providers to deliver both the up skilling of the existing staff as well as developing our external provision of apprentices. The lifetime of the framework of providers will be in place for four years. These apprenticeships can be at any age and level. In the first year it is also possible to fund apprenticeship opportunities for existing staff. In Bradford this is around the minimum of 230 apprentices at any time. The Council expects initially to deliver 50 % in house. This would leave approximately 115 apprentices that we would expect to place with external providers to meet the requirements of the Enterprise Act. However, the Council has ambitions to exceed this target and to provide up to 500 apprentices per year.
