Kings Hall care home plans set for approval

Plans to build a care home as part of the redevelopment of Belfast’s iconic Kings Hall look set to be approved.The Kings Hall Health and Wellbeing Park is a £100m joint venture project between Benmore Group and Octopus Real Estate.It will transform The Kings Hall at the Balmoral Showgrounds, which was opened in 1934 as a permanent exhibition hall for the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society. It has hosted the likes of The Beatles, David Bowie, Nirvana and Diana Ross.An application by Benmore Octopus Healthcare Developments (KH) Ltd proposes the construction of a care facility west of Harberton Park and north east of Balmoral Golf Club.The scheme would also include associated car parking, servicing and landscaping, with access to the site off Balmoral Avenue.It is set to go before Belfast City Council next week (15 December 2020) with a recommendation for approval.A document filed ahead of the meeting said the plans are considered “acceptable”.
