Karbon Homes underway on £18.5m developments
Karbon Homes is moving forward with £18.5m of new residential developments in County Durham.The housing association is currently working with contractor Partner Construction, a subsidiary of United Living Group, on three sites; 66 new homes in Esh Winning, 30 in Pelton Fell and 19 in Annfield Plain.Karbon has worked with Durham County Council to identify housing demand in each of the three communities and provide an appropriate mix of house types, as well as a blend of affordable rent and rent-to-buy homes.Homes England is supporting all three developments with grant funding of about £4m.In Esh Winning, the Castlefields scheme will comprise 53 Rent to Buy homes alongside 13 affordable rent on a site at the eastern edge of the village. Completion is expected in spring 2021.In Pelton Fell, Karbon is providing 16 affordable rent and 14 rent-to-buy homes at the western end of Littleburn Way. Work is expected to complete next autumn.At Annfield Plain, a development of 19 affordable rent homes is being developed on the site of a former community centre on Fairview Terrace, just a mile away from Karbon’s Stanley office base. These homes are expected to be available to rent in early 2021.
