Plans in for 500 Preston homes

Plans to build hundreds of homes in Preston have been brought forward by Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey. If backed, more than 500 jobs would be supported.Lichfields has submitted an outline application on behalf of the pair for a site at Sandy Lane and Tabley Lane.The plot forms part of the North West Preston Strategic Location (NWPSL).Proposed are 500 homes, a local centre and recreational areas.Pedestrian and cycle-friendly routes are also lined up, while an area of land within the site has been put aside for a secondary school. However, that element does not form part of the application.The homes would be two to four bedrooms, with 30 per cent affordable housing proposed.A planning statement noted that the development would yield “significant benefits” for the area.These include supporting of 204 construction jobs and 309 supply chain roles, as well as off-site construction positions.The application is with Preston City Council.
