Green light for major Northfleet scheme
Plans have been approved for the construction of more than 530 homes at a major new riverside development in Northfleet.Bellway Thames Gateway is behind the scheme at Ebbsfleet Garden City, known as Harbour Village.It will comprise a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as two, three and four bedroom homes.The site is currently derelict brownfield land by the River Thames, once home to Northfleet Cement Works, which closed in 2008. The site is located off The Creek.Outline planning permission was granted for the new development in 2018 and further plans were given the go-ahead in December 2020.Alongside the new homes, the 76-acre site will also include retail, commercial and employment space, plus parks and a riverside promenade.Ebbsfleet Garden City will eventually feature 15,000 new homes across a wider area south of the Thames.
