Flats earmarked for Jewellery Quarter clothing wholesaler

A clothing wholesaler building in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter could be transformed into almost 30 apartments, according to new plans.Cordia Blackswan is seeking the go-ahead to convert Bradford Works in Barr Street into 28 units.The proposals, which have been submitted to Birmingham City Council, would also see 28 cycle spaces created as well as a cinema room, home working space as well as a yoga studio and a communal kitchen and dining area.The three-storey building is currently occupied by Aulak Fashion.The site forms the corner of the site known as Gilders Yard, which is currently in the process of being redeveloped for 156 flats alongside commercial floor space.Elsewhere in the same block, the former Gothic pub has been granted consent for conversion to a mix of commercial and residential uses, alongside adjoining properties.
