£25m town regeneration bid submitted

Stapleford’s bid to boost its town centre has gone into government today (January 29) with Broxtowe MP Darren Henry pledging to make the case to ministers.A months’-long consultation programme saw Stapleford residents play a key role in shaping plans to secure a £25m investment under the Government’s Town Fund. Now, a detailed final bid has been submitted to the Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government by a Towns Board which brought together local businesses, local people, MP Darren Henry and Broxtowe Borough Council.Ministers are being asked by the town to invest in a community leisure hub, cycle ‘super highway’, safer roads, and an Enterprise Hub? – as well as a COVID-19 Town Centre Recovery Grant Scheme and adult learning and skills centre.Stapleford’s proposal will now be reviewed by the Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government with approval expected by May 2021.
