Demolition work starts at former nightclub
Work to knock down a former nightclub in Newcastle-under-Lyme as part of a major town centre regeneration scheme has started.The project at the Brunswick Street site is expected to take ten weeks to complete.The demolition is being funded as part of the Newcastle Town Deal secured by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and the site will be redeveloped by Aspire Housing.The site has previously been a snooker hall and a dance hall, before eventually becoming well known locally as the nightclub Zanzibar, until its closure in 2004.It has remained vacant in the 17 years since it last closed.
