SGI signs agreement for Olympic Legacy Park development

Scarborough Group International (SGI) has signed a development agreement with Sheffield City Council for development at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.SGI has developed a masterplan for about 850,000 sq ft of commercial space across an 80-acre zone, which is already home to the English Institute for Sport Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre and National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering, iceSheffield, Fly DSA Arena, UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park and Oasis Academy Don Valley.The developer intends to submit a planning application for the first phase of the scheme, comprising a 40,000 sq ft Enterprise Centre to support fledgling businesses in the health, wellbeing, sport and activity sectors, by the end of the year.Work has also started on the Legacy Community Stadium, which will provide 23,000 sq ft of flexible business space, a professional-quality artificial grass pitch and a covered stadium that will eventually have capacity for up to 3,900 spectators.Plans for £200m of new new health care, regeneration and sporting projects at Sheffield’s Olympic Legacy Park were previously unveiled in January.
