Plans revealed for £30m LCR digital scheme
Plans for a £30m partnership designed to help make the Liverpool City Region one of the country’s most digitally connected areas, and ultimately lead to a £1bn boost to the economy, have been revealed.Work has already begun on a 212km full fibre, gigabit-capable network infrastructure.When complete, it is hoped businesses in the area will be in a “prime position” to lead the way in a host of growing sectors, from health and life sciences to Artificial Intelligence and advanced manufacturing.Half-owned by the city region’s Combined Authority, the LCR Digital Infrastructure Project will be capable of providing speeds beyond 1,000mbps.It is being brought forward in partnership ITS Technology Group, which will lead the scheme, working alongside construction partner NGE.
