Plans revealed for new home for worlds first football club
Plans have been revealed for a new ground and visitors centre for Sheffield FC, the world’s first football club.The club has set out plans for a new ground, to be known as The Home of Football, on a know as the transport ground.Alongside a 4,000-seat stadium, there are plans to create a new visitor attraction.Sheffield FC was formed in 1857 and originally played at East Bank, located on the east bank of the River Sheaf. They went on to play games at Bramall Lane prior to the formation of Sheffield United, as well as Newhall, Ecclesall Road, and the Old Forge ground in Attercliffe.In 2001, the club moved to their current base at the Coach & Horses in Dronfield.
