Civil engineering firm becomes employee-owned
An Atherton-based groundwork contractor and civil engineering specialist has become employee-owned.Established in 1990, Fitfield provides services including site clearance, foundations, slab construction, drainage, hard landscaping and roads and sewers to clients including Redrow Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes.The switch to an Employee-Ownership Trust (EOT) is designed to ensure that any decisions taken by the business represent the best interests of its 60-strong workforce.Managing director John Maxwell believes the switch will preserve the independent status and family ethos of the business, provide a structure for the long-term and continue a programme of staff training and development.It completed the transition following advice and guidance from Beever and Struthers and law firm Brabners.
