Plans for hundreds of homes across two sites in South Yorkshire look set to get the go-ahead tomorrow (18 March 2021).ID Planning, on behalf of Harron Homes, submitted a full planning application to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council last year for a site in Throapham, on the northern edge of Dinnington. The 27.2-acre site comprises undeveloped arable agricultural land and is allocated for residential development in the Rotherham Local Plan.Planning permission is sought for a total of 285 new homes, with a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties. Of these, 70 would be affordable housing.A central green space area would also be created. The application will be considered by the council’s Planning Board on 18 March 2021 and is recommended for approval, subject to the signing of a legal agreement, in an officer’s report prepared for the meeting. The recommendation has been made despite almost 70 letters of objection received by the council. The committee will also vote on plans submitted by Newett Homes, supported by Quod, for development on the Pitches Sports Club site off Wickersley Road in Broom.Approval is sought for a development of 116 new homes on the site. A mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties would be built, with 29 affordable homes. About 70,000 sq ft of public open space would be provided. The number of homes has been reduced from the 124 originally proposed when plans were submitted. This application is also recommended for approval, subject to a legal agreement, in the report prepared for the meeting. The council has received about 150 objections to the plans.
