Planning permission has been granted for a development of almost 300 homes on a site in South Yorkshire.ID Planning, on behalf of Harron Homes, submitted a full planning application to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council last year for a site in Throapham, on the northern edge of Dinnington. The 27.2-acre site comprises undeveloped arable agricultural land and is allocated for residential development in the Rotherham Local Plan. The development is set to comprise a total of 285 new homes, with a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties. Of these, 70 would be affordable housing.A central green space area would also be created. The application was approved, subject to conditions, at a meeting of the council’s Planning Board last week (18 March 2021). The decision was in line with the recommendation of an officer’s report prepared for the meeting, as previously reported by Insider.A second application from Newett Homes for a development of 116 homes on the Pitches Sports Club site off Wickersley Road in Broom was refused planning permission due to concerns over the loss of green space. This application had also been recommended for approval at the meeting.
