Plans to develop a major £50m holiday village in Lancaster have been unveiled, with the project expected to bring forward hundreds of jobs. The proposals include a 90-bedroom hotel designed to sit within the landscape, complete with a grass roof, while 450 lodges are lined up to sit within both mature and new woodland. It also comprises a combination of visitor attractions ranging from an Artisan Marketplace to a Wildlife Centre where woodland walks are combined with new technology.Elsewhere, a commitment to plant more than 30,000 trees has been made. The initiative is the brainchild of M Capital Properties and Susie Charles, a direct descendent of the Sandeman port dynasty. The land was once part of the famous Ellel Grange estate, itself the former home of the Sandeman family.Up to £28m of additional revenue could be generated through the development, with 670 jobs set to be created.
