Major Sunderland housing scheme set to move forward
Proposals for hundreds of new dwellings on a site in the south of Sunderland are set to be approved, new documents have revealed.The plans set to go before Sunderland City Council next week (29 March 2021) are an updated version of those lodged in 2019 by a consortium led by Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon and Story Homes.The site bounded by Burdon Road spans more than 145 acres and is primarily made up of agricultural fields.The hybrid application is seeking full planning permission for 532 homes with associated infrastructure and landscaping.The properties would be a mix of two, three, four and five-bed homes.The outline element of the scheme comprises up to 358 homes, a neighbourhood centre with 7.1 acres of development including a 1.5 form entry school, associated infrastructure and landscaping.
