Proposals for almost 400 homes to be discussed

Proposals for almost 400 new homes as part of the East Leeds Extension are set to be discussed.Housebuilder Redrow will present pre-application proposals for land at Red Hall Lane to Leeds City Council at a meeting of the City Plans Panel on 8 April 2021.A development of 380 homes is proposed for the site, together with areas of green space.A mix of housing from one to five bedrooms is expected to be included in the plans.The western part of the site includes the grade II-listed Red Hall House, occupied by the Rugby Football League, which does not form part of the plans.Committee members will be asked for their views on the proposed design and layout of the housing, landscaping, and transport and connectivity.The East Leeds Extension (ELE) comprises about 576 acres around the edge of Swarcliffe, Whinmoor and Crossgates, including Red H all, which has been identified for the development of about 5,000 homes.The East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) is currently under construction as part of a programme of infrastructure works to support the development, and is scheduled for completion by May 2022.Outline plans have previously been submitted for 2,000 homes, retail, health centre, community centre and primary school development on the Northern Quadrant. There is a Plans Panel resolution to grant planning permission and an S106 Agreement is almost complete.An outline application was lodged in July 2020 for 875 homes on the Middle Quadrant, with plans due to be submitted shortly for 975 homes, together with a local centre and primary school on the Southern Quadrant.Work is also underway on 51 homes on the former Bramley Gardens Home site.
