Plans revealed for new student scheme on site of former city council offices

A public consultation has opened on a new scheme proposed by Watkin Jones on the site of the former Housing Aid building in Nottingham city centre.The developer wants to partner with student accommodation provider Fresh to bring forward a 357-bed student scheme at 135-137 Lower Parliament Street, on land which is now used as surface car parking.The development would be made up of two buildings that would include studio apartments and cluster flats, along with commercial space on the ground floor. Architects are proposing a 12-storey a six-storey building, with a public realm area between them.Some 49 basement car parking spaces would be included in the scheme, and given back to Nottigham City Council. These would not be used by residents of the building.The architect on the proposed scheme in ECE Westworks.The public consultation will last until May 5.
