Restaurant and Bar Plans for Former Library Get the Go-ahead

The proposed redevelopment of a former library building on the outskirts of Leeds to create a new restaurant and bar has been given the green light.Willow Properties (Yorkshire), supported by Forward Planning and Design, submitted an application to Leeds City Council earlier this year for the change of use of the Guiseley Library building on Otley Road.The library was built in 1956 and extended in 1972. It was sold by Leeds City Council at auction in late 2020, with the library facilities having previously relocated to Aireborough Leisure Centre.The plans cover the conversion of the building to create a restaurant and bar, together with a side extension to form a toilet block.A full refurbishment and internal alterations will be undertaken to support the new use. Minor external alterations to the property will also be made.The proposed opening hours are 11am to 11pm.The council has now granted planning permission for the redevelopment, subject to conditions, under delegated powers.
