Co-living development plans for Kelham Island site

Grantside, supported by Urbana Town Planning and Cartwright Pickard, has submitted an application to Sheffield City council for a site bounded by Bowling Green Street, Ward Street and South Parade.The site is currently occupied by a number of general industry and warehousing buildings.Full planning permission is sought for the demolition of the existing properties and construction of a new seven-storey mixed-use building.The proposed development, known as The Hive, would comprise 90 co-living units and about 7,700 sq ft of of ground floor commercial space, including a co-working hub. The co-living units would comprise studio apartments with shared communal living areas and facilities.The plans also include 1,300 sq ft of ground floor amenity space (including a bike store), 3,200 sq ft of ancillary communal amenity areas across the first and sixth floors for residents, and a central courtyard area.Grantside announced the acquisition of the Bowling Green Street site, together with a property on on Norfolk Street in the city centre, earlier this year following the relaunch of the company.
