Backing secured for Coventry industrial scheme

An industrial scheme on land formerly used by a car dealership group in Coventry has been approved.Industrial real estate company Goodman sought the go-ahead from Coventry City Council to redevelop the former site of Lawrence Automotive to provide employment uses.The application site comprises mainly of brownfield land with parts falling within the Green Belt. It sits immediately adjacent to the existing Lyons Park industrial area.Proposals comprise of the erection of a new commercial unit with ancillary offices, access, servicing, parking, drainage, and landscaping.It also sought planning permission for the formation of an area to accommodate additional HGV trailer parking spaces for use in connection with the adjacent existing Amazon operation.The HGV trailer parking area will provide 185 trailer parking spaces, alongside two pre-check offices with barriers and associated lighting.The proposed industrial unit comprises approximately 106,000 sq ft of floorspace.Additionally, parking for the industrial unit would be located to the east of the building, separate from the yard area, while the ancillary office area would be located on the north eastern corner.
