Barratt Developments snaps up Scottish land from Henry Boot for £2.6 million
Construction and property development business Henry Boot has sold a third parcel of land at a Scottish site in a £2.6m deal. Its land promotion business, Hallam Land Management (HLM), has completed the sale of 116 plots to national house builder Barratt Developments in Burdiehouse, on the edge of Edinburgh. The deal marks the third in a series of completions on the site for Henry Boot, which has now sold 449 plots in three separate phases for £12.8m.The 75-acre site was first contracted under option in 2006 and, following through the City of Edinburgh Local Plan review process, the land was partially granted planning in principle for around 100 houses in February 2012.The site was purchased in 2012 while negotiations on a planning gain package were still ongoing, with additional community benefits, including contributions towards new cycle path networks and a healthcare facility.HLM bought the freehold and the first phase was sold to Barratt Developments in 2013, having been granted outline consent for 122 houses a year earlier.Phase two saw the sale of land for 211 houses and flats in August 2015, with construction completed in May 2021.A further 20 acres were identified for housing as part of the City of Edinburgh Local Development Plan in 2016, which has now led to HLM selling the additional 116 plots.
