More than 60 Lincolnshire homes secure council backing

The proposed construction of more than 60 homes on agricultural land in Lincolnshire has been backed by the council.Gleeson Regeneration sought the go-ahead from East Lindsey District Council to build 62 residential properties on land off Main Street at the western edge of Mareham le Fen, Boston.The application site is split into two parcels of land, with both being used for agricultural purposes.The dwellings would contain a mixture of detached and semi-detached houses along with a pair of bungalows, split between two, three and four-bed properties.A statement filed with the council on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposals would deliver low cost housing that would foster social inclusion by providing accommodation for local persons who cannot currently afford to live in Mareham le Fen.”It is considered that the principle of the development of the site is acceptable. It has been demonstrated that the limited impacts would not significantly and demonstrably outweigh by the positive impacts of the development.”An officer report for the council added: “Future residents would have a good standard of amenity without adversely affecting the amenities of those currently living alongside or those who will occupy the neighbouring approved scheme.”The project has been approved, subject to conditions.
