Plans submitted for new council houses in West Lothian

Plans have been submitted for five new council houses in West Lothian.The new terraced homes will be available for social rent as part of West Lothian Council’s new build affordable housing programme.If approved, the development will be located on the grounds of the former public swimming baths at Mid Street in Bathgate and will consist of two- and three-bedroom properties.The proposals include the construction of five new low-rise houses with private gardens, communal landscaping, and car parking.Nearby, three-storey flats and a church are situated to the west on Mid Street and a further residential garden bounds the site to the east.The new residential units have been planned to overlook communal areas and pedestrian routes to provide natural surveillance, inherent safety and a sense of community.Low carbon technologies will be used to meet West Lothian Council’s aim of getting to Net Zero Carbon as set out in their updated Design Guide for all new build properties.All homes will also have an electric vehicle charging provision, The West Lothian Courier reports.
