The proposed development of almost 80 homes on agricultural land in Lincolnshire is set to be backed by the council.Ashwood Homes lodged plans with South Holland District Council to build 75 properties on land off Sunnydale Close in Surfleet, Spalding.Measuring approximately seven acres, the application site is currently in agricultural use.The project comprises a mixture of one, two, three and four-bed properties, with 11 allocated as affordable housing. The application will be reviewed by the council’s planning committee on 21 July.A report for the committee said: “A mix of house types and styles is proposed to present an attractive street scene and neighbourhood character.”Taking these factors into account, it is considered that the proposed development would not materially harm the existing character of the settlement.”The scheme would result in a sustainable development which would have wider community benefits.”The project has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
