Solar farm project set for council backing
A proposed solar farm which has the potential to power thousands of homes in Warwickshire is set to be backed by the council.Low Carbon Ltd is seeking the go-ahead from Stratford-on-Avon District Council to build the solar farm on approximately 203 acres of agricultural land near To Bishop’s Itchington.The application seeks full planning permission for a solar farm of up to 49.9MW capacity for a temporary period of 40 years, with the scheme expected to cause a reduction of approximately 11,210 tonnes of emissions annuallyAdditionally, it is anticipated that the farm would be able to meet the energy needs of about 16,581 homes.The applicant expects 60 to 80 construction workers to be on the site during peak times of the four-month build period.The scheme has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
