New homes unveiled for former gas holder site

A new development designed to breathe new life into a Kent gas holder site, which has been derelict for two decades has been unveiled.An application for the regeneration of the Tonbridge Gas Holder site has been lodged with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council. The scheme is known as The Old Gas Works and has been designed by The Harris Partnership on behalf of Blueberry Homes.It will provide 144 apartments over two blocks, flexible commercial space and landscaping to the River Medway waterfront, including a new public square.Each residential block will comprise one to three-bed units, a roof terrace and play areas in a residents’ courtyard space.Tonbridge Gas Company was established in 1836. Subject to planning, construction work on its redevelopment could start in 2022.
