Plans revealed for Amir Khan-led project

Plans for an Amir Khan-led project designed to breathe life into part of Bolton have been revealed. The architecture firm behind the proposals has spoken to Insider, shedding light on what the former world champion has lined up.The development is earmarked for a site on Washington Street, part of which has already been procured by Khan through the Bolton Enterprise Centre.Phase two is his latest venture, with Insider able to reveal details of the scheme.Lined up are 18 homes, 20 one- and two-bed apartments, and five commercial units varying in size between 2,500 sq ft to 3,500 sq ft.The plans are in the pre-application stage, with discussions having been held with Bolton Council’s planning department.Mohammed Afaq, director of Cheshire-based 1618 Architects, is working on the project.Afaq noted that the plan is for the proposals to be signed off by end of the year.On Khan, Afaq noted that the project is on a scale he has ‘yet to do himself’.
